"In the Footsteps of the Marshal ', Transnational Cultural Route of BiH, Serbia and Montenegro"

The route was created within the project "Increasing tourism attractiveness, tourism partnerships and business competitiveness with the transnational cultural route In the Footsteps of Marshall", funded by the European Union and implemented by the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), in an effort to contribute to growth and competitiveness. supporting the development and promotion of a joint regional cultural and adventure offer through the Tourism Development and Promotion Project grant.

The goal is to contribute to the development of regional cultural and adventure offer, and on part of the route through Bosnia and Herzegovina are presented Sarajevo (Memorial Park Vrace), Foca (Tjentiste National Park Sutjeska), Prijedor (National Park Kozara), Mostar (Partisan Cemetery) and Zenica (Garbage).

In Serbia, the Srem Front (Sid), Kosmaj (Mladenovac) and Kadinjaca (Uzice), and in Montenegro the monuments of Trebjes (Niksic), Jasikovac (Berane) and Zabljak.

Significance of the project in mapping, research and re-actualization of World War II monuments
During Yugoslavia, these monuments were part of state rituals that maintained a collective memory and created a common narrative, and today they are almost neglected because people are more focused on their own tourist potentials.

That is why the significance of the project is in mapping, researching and re-actualizing the monuments of the Second World War.

In BiH, study analyzes were performed by Elma Hodžić, curator of the History Museum of BiH and Nataša Musa, creator of the platform "Holidays in BiH", who announced that the next activities of the economy project should connect the three countries in a route to offer stakeholders networking in the construction process. unique national tourism product.

"Narration map" with localities and interesting stories about monuments

One of the project activities is the "Story Map" digital map to show the route. On this map, visitors will get acquainted with the sites and interesting stories about the monuments. The map would be implemented in already existing websites of tourist organizations, agencies and municipalities.

The planned activity is the exhibition "Blue Train", which will show photos of World War II monuments, and which will visit all three countries. The exhibition will be accompanied by educational workshops for the interpretation of the artistic design of World War II monuments with a special emphasis on involving young people in building the potential of locations using interesting storytelling methods to connect with their cultural and historical heritage.

In BiH, the project is implemented by the Foundation for the Promotion of Education, Culture, Peace and Human Rights "Sprofondo-Thalia" BiH, in Serbia, the Center for Research and Studies of Tourism Novi Sad and Montenegro, the NGO Pro Futuro.
