The service of medical and social assistance to the elderly, sick and socially endangered persons aims to strengthen non-institutional care of the most medically and socially endangered categories of society and in any case represents a necessary contribution of the non-governmental sector in providing assistance and care to the most endangered categories of the population.
Home assistance
This part of the project refers to the provision of medical services at home, to immobile, elderly, sick people who are socially disadvantaged.
Based on the submitted lists of centers for social work of the Sarajevo Canton, a tour of persons, potential patients, was performed by a nurse and a social worker in order to establish the anamnesis and social status.
Patients involved in the project were regularly visited by a nurse and physiotherapist who provided them with the necessary medical care.
The social worker keeps a database of patients and updates it regularly. Patients are also visited by a general practitioner if necessary.
The project is coordinated by a project coordinator who holds weekly meetings with staff to agree on a work plan and program.
Ambulance
Through the long-term work of the Foundation in providing medical and social care to the elderly, sick and socially endangered, it was concluded that the need of an elderly person for an outpatient clinic is specially designed for their needs, ie the employees of the outpatient clinic are people with a strong sensitivity to work with the elderly. Older people are provided with fast and quality treatment.
The clinic is trained and equipped within the premises of the Sprofondo-Thalia Foundation. The staff employed to provide the services are a general practitioner and a nurse.
The basic types of services provided by the clinic are as follows:
-patient examination
-EKG
-measurement of blood pressure (RR)
-wrapping
-measuring the concentration of sugar and cholesterol in the blood
